Our Vision
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Robotik e.V. (DGR), founded in March 2026 and grown out of the Robotics Institute Germany (RIG) initiative, brings together Germany’s robotics community to strengthen its national and international impact.
Robotics is where intelligence meets the physical world. As AI systems increasingly perceive, learn, and act in real environments, robotics will transform industry, healthcare, mobility, and many other areas of society. Our vision rests on a community spanning academia, industry, policy-making, and society, where ideas translate quickly from research into real-world application, and Germany continues to shape the future of intelligent robotics worldwide.
Our Mission
The DGR's mission is to connect researchers, industry professionals, startups, and educators, and to spark collaboration and knowledge exchange across the German robotics landscape. A key part of our mission is to promote robotics research, development, and education at every level, while representing German robotics interests nationally and internationally.
An Open Community — Join and Shape German Robotics
The DGR is open to everyone who wants to contribute to robotics in Germany: individuals as well as universities, research organizations, companies, startups, and associations.
Members help shape the community's direction: contributing ideas, joining working groups and events, and proposing candidates for scientific bodies, including the DFG review boards (Fachkollegien), strengthening robotics' representation in Germany's research system.
How We Will Get There
Phase 1: Foundation
Establish the foundation by launching our website and member community and introducing a regular newsletter.
Phase 2: Presence & Expansion
Expand our presence with a permanent office, member events, a job and talent portal, and an internationally benchmarked interactive robotics map.
Phase 3: Long-term Impact (Years 3 & 4)
Achieve full financial independence, publish annual industry and research analyses, work with RIG to expand the German Robotics Conference into a broader series with hackathons, career fairs, and training sessions, and develop educational resources for schools and lifelong learners.
Our goal is simple: to give everyone working in or contributing to robotics in Germany a place to connect, participate, and help shape the future of the field.
